More than a back protector, without a back protector.
The Dainese D-air® airbag system protects the rider's back and vital parts with its Shield, the patented airbag with microfilaments that ensures high shock absorption capacity without the need for hardshell protective gear. The amount of protection is equivalent to seven back protectors and it covers a wider surface than a single back protector, without the restrictions. The safety of air.

What makes the Smart Jacket unique is its Shield, the patented airbag from Dainese. Its special structure and microfilaments guarantee uniform, controlled inflation, offering the same level of protection over every inch of the airbag. The Smart Jacket is abrasion-resistant and its Dainese D-air® is the only certified motorcycle airbag protection that doesn't use hardshell protection on the torso (EN 1621-4 Lev. 2) or back (EN 1621-4 CB Lev. 1). The brain inside the Smart Jacket is the control unit in the Dainese D-air® system, which, without any cable or connection to the motorcycle, automatically senses dangerous situations and immediately activates the Shield to protect the rider. The brain inside the Smart Jacket senses and analyzes everything that goes on around the rider. It uses its sensors to monitor and process data 1,000 times a second. Its complex algorithm activates the airbag in the event of lowsiders, highsiders, collisions with objects or other vehicles, and rear-end collisions. For the first time with a motorcycle airbag system, activation also occurs in a collision with a stationary vehicle, which is common when stopping at an intersection. HOW TO SIZE YOUR SMART JACKET:
The Smart Jacket can be worn over or under any jacket. To select your correct sizing, just follow these simple steps:
If you are planning to wear the Smart Jacket under your riding jacket, just measure your chest size first wearing what you will wear when riding (base layers, t-shirt, fleece..)
Please note: It is recommended that you have 5cm (2inch) of space between your base layers and jacket both on the front and on the back to leave the correct room in case of an activation.
If you are planning to wear the Smart Jacket over your riding jacket, just measure your chest while wearing it.
If your jacket has armour, please ensure they are in before measuring.
Once you defined the correct chest sizing, just follow the sizing guide below to select the most appropriate Smart Jacket size.
There is a reasonable degree of expansion in the jacket and it should fit under / over most items based on your standard chest size, the only variance could be over a big bulky touring jacket for example.
